Preparing a Checklist for a Clean House - Points to Remember


There is no substitute for cleanliness. Almost every homeowner tries (not necessarily succeeds in doing so) to spend some time on a daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal basis in order to keep the house clean, fresh and free from all sorts of negative vibes that emanate from anything smelly, unhygienic or stale. 

What is the reason that some houses are brilliantly clean and exhume positive vibes while most others look ordinary (even if they were renovated just a year ago), forcing all occupants (and guests, sometimes) to spend time outdoors instead? 


How to keep a house Clean? 


Keeping a house clean isn’t that tough a job if you’ve daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal cleaning checklists ready and you’re determined to follow up on them. If you stick to a daily cleaning checklist, it would be much easier to stick to weekly schedule, directed by a weekly cleaning list. Spend 10 minutes a day and hour a week – get ready to be amazed at how clean, refreshing and well-organized your house becomes!  


Daily Cleaning Checklist: 10-15 Minutes per Day


A typical daily cleaning checklist can include:

1. Every morning, make the beds, place the dirty laundry at one place (scheduled for cleaning on alternate days) and clear the dishwasher. 
2. Make it a point to wipe all sinks and counters in the morning or evening at least once in a day. 
3. Ask everyone in the house to keep all things where they should be in the morning before they get dressed and leave for school, college or office. One of the best tips on cleaning your room is to spend 5 minutes a day on regular cleaning tasks. It’s easy but most people, especially kids and office goers, just laze around. Every member of the family should have a room cleaning checklist which may include

a. Placing all clothes in the closet. 
b. Picking dirty laundry. 
c. Clean sweep the floor area. 
d. Pick all stray classes, plates, trays etc. and leave them in the kitchen. 

4. Sweep the floor in kitchen and living room after breakfast. 
5. Do the dinner dishes before going to bed. 

It’s easier to commit yourself to a household cleaning checklist than to a raw idea like this one – “I want clean sinks, fresh toilets, ceilings, floors, upholstery, mats, blinds and so on.” It doesn’t work that way. Commit yourself to a daily and weekly cleaning checklist next. 


Weekly Cleaning checklist: 1 Hour Per Week 


1. Start upstairs. 
2. Empty all trashes
3. Get rid of dust and cobwebs in all corners. 
4. Dust all picture frames, decorative items, door frames, electronic appliances and fans. 
5. Clean windows, glasses and mirrors by using a glass cleaner solution. 
6. Rub all kitchen cabinet and appliance surfaces with a piece of cloth. 
7. Thoroughly clean all counters with a cleaning solution in the kitchen. 
8. Mop the kitchen floor. 
9. Use a spray cleaner to cleanse bathroom tubs, sinks, counters, doors and toilet seats; inside out.

First, majority of homeowners do not understand the importance of hiring a professional house cleaner. They try spending time on their own, prepare poorly planned checklists and continue to procrastinate, like forever. By the time they gather enough courage and motivation to follow up on a spring cleaning checklist, it’s already ready raining around and the house (as always) is a mess.
